Copper cathode grades,explained.
Copper cathode is the refined, pure form of copper, sold in plates and traded worldwide against exchange standards. The grade, the standard it meets and whether the brand is exchange-registered define what you are buying.
The grades
Grade A and standard grade.

What to check
Beyond the purity figure.

| LME registration | The brand is approved for delivery against the exchange | Pricing and resale confidence |
| Mill test certificate | Chemical analysis of the lot by the producer | Confirms the grade |
| Independent assay and weight | Sampling and weighing by an inspection company | Protects both sides |
| Form | Full plates or cut cathodes, strapped in bundles | Handling and melting requirements |
| Physical condition | Nodules, oxidation and surface condition | Some buyers set limits |

- 02LME registered brand required, or equivalent accepted
- 03Form: full plate or cut
- 04Quantity, and single lot or regular supply
- 05Loading or destination port, and preferred Incoterm
- 06Inspection: independent assay and weight at loading
